Mel-de-Cana da Madeira PDO
Description: Mel-de-Cana da Madeira is a sugarcane syrup resulting from the purification, refinement, and concentration of natural, unfermented, sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) juice, from traditional varieties that grown on Madeira Island, and is obtained without the addition of any pH regulator, promoter of sucrose inversion, or any sweetener or preservative, natural or artificial, following Madeiran traditional production method.
Normally shows an elevated content in total sugars (greater than 50% and up to 75%), with a sucrose content that varies between 20 and 45 g/100g, a tenor in reducing sugars (fructose and glucose), always greater than 17 g/100g and that can exceed 20 g/100g, and an ash purport greater than 3.5% (and less than 5.5%).

Description: The Mel dos Açores PDO, in the Multiflora variety is a honey from the nectar of the many wild flowers and tree blossom that grow in this area including plum, chestnut, orange, eucalyptus and rosemary as well as subtropical species such as banana, passion fruit, pineapple, avocado and guava. Mel dos Açores PDO honey also includes another variety, Mel de Incenso honey, that comes from the nectar of a species of Pittosporum ondulattum Hort, a naturally occurring plant that grows all over the Azores.

Mel do Parque de Montesinho PDO

Description: The Mel do Parque de Montesinho PDO is a wild flower honey made by the Apis mellifera Iberica species of bee. The nectar comes from the natural vegetation which is predominantly heather, chestnut and rosemary.

Mel do Ribatejo Norte PDO

Description: The Mel do Ribatejo Norte PDO honey is produced by the Apis mellifera Iberica species of bee and the nectar from the wild flowers and Mediterranean flora of the Ribatejo region. Mel do Ribatejo Norte PDO honey comes in four varieties depending on the largest percentage of pollen type it contains: Serra d'Aire (rosemary, lavender and mint pollen); Albufeira do Castelo do Bode (heather, myrtle and chestnut pollen); Bairro (thistle, rubus, echio and trefoil pollen); Alto Nabão (principally eucalyptus pollen).

Mel da Serra da Lousã

Description: The Mel da Serra da Lousã PDO is an excellent honey made by bees of the Apis mellifera Iberica species. It is amber coloured, often very dark and very viscous. It has an excellent flavour, with hints of woodland, humus and heather.

Mel de Barroso

Description: The Mel de Barroso PDO is honey from the black bee of the Apis mellifera Iberica species. The nectar comes from the naturally occurring wild flowers in the area where it is made, which consists mostly of heather. Because this honey is a completely natural product and has undergone no industrial processes it tends to crystallise very easily, especially in cold temperatures.
