Rabanadas

Description: Golden slices, with honey and cinnamon flavor.

Delimitation of the geographical area of production: Between the Douro and the Tâmega.

Ingredients used: Sugar, honey, eggs, cinnamon, water, port wine, bread (French toast cassette).

Preparation: Cut the cassette into slices. Soak in a hot syrup made with water, cinnamon and sugar. Coat in egg and fry. Drizzle with hot sauce made with the syrup along with honey and port wine.

Forms of commercialization: As a dessert in restaurants and pastry shops.

Product availability throughout the year: Limited to the Christmas season.

Representativeness in local food: Typical Christmas sweet.

Product availability: Continuous supply with predominance in the Christmas season.
