Sodos, Económicos ou Azeiteiros

Description: Sodos, also called economic, or olive oil, are very simple cakes, made with traditional ingredients, and whose recipe yields a lot, which makes them economical. They are dry but very fluffy cakes, which are great for snacks, or simply to accompany a cup of tea.

Region: Trás-os-Montes.

Ingredients used: Eggs, butter, olive oil, sugar, flour, brandy, milk, bicarbonate of soda and baking powder.

Preparation: Mix the eggs, sugar, melted butter, olive oil, milk and brandy, and beat the well-beaten ingredients. Finally, pour baking soda and add flour until the dough is ready. Then, with a tablespoon, place the dough in individual portions, on a tray spread with butter or sprinkled with flour, so that they do not come together. They then go to the oven, where they bake for approximately 10 to 15 minutes, depending on the portion/amount of dough that is placed for each cake.

Product availability throughout the year: All year round.

Representativeness in local food: Present in all homes, it is part of the typical snacks of the region.
